Patients in waiting room, c. 1940
UAB Archives, University of Alabama at Birmingham

Opened in 1937, Slossfield was one of the most successful and transformative community-based healthcare clinics built during the WPA era. It was where community wellness flourished and changed lives for generations.

Nearly 80 years after it closed, Christ Health is restoring Slossfield. The revitalized clinic will be a source of care and hope for an underserved population with little or no access to affordable healthcare options.

We invite you to join our efforts to restore Slossfield and transform the lives of women, children, families, and the community.

Help Transform Lives In Our Community

The Restoration Has Begun,
And We Need Your Help.

The facility has been purchased, plans completed, and work started. Some of the funds have been raised, but additional investment is needed to fully restore the historic clinic, bring the best in modern medical care to area residents, and transform lives once again.

We invite you to join our efforts to return Slossfield to its previous life-changing greatness and help us make a meaningful difference in the lives of women, children, families, and the community as a whole.
